People's Friend- No Friend of mine.
Today I got yet another rejection slip from People's Friend; a D.C. Thompson publication that publishes short stories. I have sent these Scottish hypocrites at least 6 stories over the years and they refuse to publish any of them.
I work hard on a 3000 word love story and one week later, they send it back saying "It wasn't suitable for our magazine."
So I send one of those short, "funny" stories about a woman complaining about a mess that she's in. They write back saying "Sorry, we thought it was too weak."
The excuse varies from story to story but the real reason is quite clear.
They only publish stories sent in by old women. It's a magazine run by feminists, who accept any piece of crap a middle aged woman pencils during her tea break and look for excuses to avoid publishing male writing's at any cost.
So, you stuck up, talentless bitch of a fiction editor- go ahead. Keep publishing crap.
But with all the money you're paying out for the same old stories of mums playing sport for the first time, and whining about how much they miss their dead husband, will you have enough cash left over for a lawyer when I sue you for sexual discrimination?
